வடகிழக்கு பருவமழை தீவிரம்: வெள்ள அபாயம்!

ஒக்டோபர் 16ஆம் திகதி முதல் 28ஆம் திகதி வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் இலங்கையில் வடகிழக்கு பருவமழை தீவிரமடையவுள்ளதால், நாட்டின் பெரும்பாலான பகுதிகளில் அதிக மழைவீழ்ச்சி எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுவதாக வளிமண்டலவியல் திணைக்களம் அறிவித்துள்ளது.

இக்காலப்பகுதியில், நாட்டின் சில பகுதிகளில் 250 மில்லிமீட்டருக்கும் அதிகமாக மழை பெய்ய வாய்ப்புள்ளது.

அதிக மழைவீழ்ச்சி காரணமாக, ஆறுகள் மற்றும் தாழ்வான பகுதிகளில் பெரிய வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு ஏற்படக்கூடிய அபாயம் காணப்படுவதாக வளிமண்டலவியல் திணைக்களம் எதிர்வு கூறியுள்ளது.

வெள்ள அபாயத்தை எதிர்கொள்ள அனைத்துத் திணைக்களங்களும், பொதுமக்களும் தயாராக இருக்குமாறு அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மழைவீழ்ச்சி முன்னறிவிக்கப்பட்டபடி நீடித்தால், அபாயகரமான பகுதிகளில் வசிக்கும் மக்கள் மற்றும் தாழ்வான பகுதிகளில் உள்ளவர்கள் சாத்தியமான வெளியேற்றத்திற்கும் தயாராக இருக்குமாறு எச்சரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Northeast Monsoon Intensifies: Flood Risk Alert!

The Department of Meteorology has announced that the northeast monsoon is expected to intensify over Sri Lanka from October 16 to 28, bringing heavy rainfall to most parts of the country.

During this period, certain areas may experience rainfall exceeding 250 millimeters.

Due to the expected heavy rains, there is a risk of major flooding in rivers and low-lying areas, according to the department’s forecast.

All relevant authorities and the public have been advised to stay prepared to face possible flood situations.

If the rainfall continues as predicted, residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas are urged to be ready for possible evacuation.

The public has also been strongly advised to follow the instructions of disaster management authorities and to make necessary arrangements in advance to move to safer locations if required.
