மஹா ஓயா மற்றும் தெதுரு ஓயாவின் தாழ்வான பகுதிகளுக்கு வெள்ள அபாய முன் எச்சரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த முன் எச்சரிக்கையானது தொடர்ந்து அமுலில் இருக்கும் என நீர்ப்பாசனத் திணைக்களம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
தற்போது பெய்து வரும் கனமழை காரணமாக பல ஆற்றுப் படுகைகளில் நீர்மட்டம் அதிகரித்துள்ளதாக நீர்ப்பாசன பணிப்பாளர் சூரியபண்டார தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
அதன்படி, பத்தேகம மற்றும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள பல பகுதிகளில் கடந்த 24 மணி நேரத்தில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க மழை பதிவாகியுள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது
அதிகபட்சமாக பத்தேகமவில் 172 மி.மீ மழை வீழ்ச்சி பதிவாகியுள்ளதாக வளிமண்டலவியல் திணைக்களம் அறிவித்துள்ளது.
இதன்படி களு, களனி கங்கைகளினதும் மற்றும் அத்தனகலு ஓயா மற்றும் கிரிந்தி ஓயாவைச் சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதிகளிலும் அதிக மழை பெய்யும் என்றும் நீர்ப்பாசன பணிப்பாளர் தெரிவித்தார்.
அதன்படி, களனி, களு, கிங், அத்தனகலு மற்றும் நில்வலா ஆகிய நீர்நிலைகளில் தொடர்ந்தும் மழை அதிகரித்து பெய்து வருவதால் அதன் தாழ்வான பகுதிகளில் அனர்த்த நிலைமைகள் ஏற்படுவதற்கான அச்சம் காணப்படுவதாக அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
எனவே அங்குள்ள மக்கள் மிகுந்த அவதானத்துடன் இருக்குமாறு அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
இதேவேளை, கிரிந்தி ஓயா மற்றும் லுனுகம்வெஹெர நீர்த்தேக்கங்களின் நீர் மட்டம் கணிசமான அளவு அதிகரித்துள்ளதாக நீர்ப்பாசன பணிப்பாளர் தெரிவித்தார்.

Flood Risk Warning
A flood risk warning has been issued for the low-lying areas of Maha Oya and Deduru Oya.
The Irrigation Department has stated that this warning will remain in effect continuously.
Due to the heavy rainfall currently occurring, water levels in several river catchments have increased, according to Irrigation Superintendent Suriyapandara.
Accordingly, significant rainfall has been recorded in Puttalam and surrounding areas over the past 24 hours.
The Department of Meteorology has reported that Puttalam recorded a maximum rainfall of 172 mm.
The Irrigation Superintendent further stated that heavy rain is expected in the catchments of Kelani, Kalu, Attanagalu Oya, and surrounding areas of Kalu Oya and Kirindi Oya.
As rainfall continues to increase in the reservoirs of Kelani, Kalu, King, Attanagalu, and Nilwala, there is concern that low-lying areas may experience flood-related hazards.
Residents in these areas have therefore been advised to remain highly vigilant.
Meanwhile, the Irrigation Superintendent also reported that the water levels in Kirindi Oya and Lunugamwehera reservoirs have risen significantly.
