மட்டக்களப்பில் கடந்த சில நாட்களாக பெய்து வரும் கடும் மழை காரணமாக Batticaloa Lagoon Overflow மட்டக்களப்பு வாவியின் நீர் மட்டம் உயர்ந்து வாவி பெருக்கெடுத்துள்ளது.
மட்டக்களப்பு வாவி பெருக்கெடுத்ததன் காரணமாக வாவியின் அருகிலுள்ள வீதிகள் நீரில் மூழ்கியுள்ளன. இதனால் போக்குவரத்து செய்வதில் வாகன சாரதிகளும் ,பாடசாலை மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்களும் பல்வேறு அசௌகரியங்களை எதிர்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர்

இதேவேளை மட்டக்களப்பு முகத்துவாரம் ஆற்றுவாய் திங்கட்கிழமை(17) அன்று மாலை வெட்டப்பட்டு மட்டக்களப்பு மாநகர சபை பிரிவில் தேங்கியுள்ள வெள்ள நீர் குறித்த ஆற்றுவாயூடாக கடலை நோக்கி திருப்பி விடப்பட்டுள்ளது .

Batticaloa Lagoon Overflow
Due to the heavy rainfall over the past few days in Batticaloa, the water level of the Batticaloa Lagoon has risen, causing it to overflow.
As a result of the lagoon overflowing, the roads near the lagoon have been submerged. This has caused various difficulties for motorists, school students, and the general public.
Several roads in the Batticaloa urban areas have also been flooded due to the overflow.
Meanwhile, on Monday (17) evening, the Batticaloa estuary was opened, allowing the floodwater that had accumulated within the Batticaloa Municipal Council area to be diverted into the sea through the estuary.
