நடத்தப்பட்ட தேசிய ரீதியான போட்டியிலே 70 வயதுக்கு மேற்பட்ட ஆடவருக்கான போட்டியில் மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டம் சார்பாக பங்குபற்றிய திரு.தங்கவேல் சந்திரசேகரம் அவர்கள் அகில இலங்கை ரீதியில் சம்பியனாக தெரிவுசெய்யப்பட்டு தங்கப்பதக்கத்தினை சுவீகரித்தார்.
இவர் கிழக்கு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் ஆங்கில விரிவுரையாளரும் ஓய்வுபெற்ற அதிபரும், தற்போது புதுக்குடியிருப்பில் அமைந்துள்ள விவேகானந்த தொழில்நுட்பவியல் கல்லூரியின் முதல்வராக கடமையாற்றி வருகின்றார்.
இவர் விளையாட்டு, சாரணியம் என எந்த விடயங்களையும் இன்றுவரை இளமைத்துடிப்புடன் செயற்படுத்திக்கொண்டிருப்பதோடு பல்வேறு சாதனைகள், வெற்றிகளை பெற்று தற்போதும் கூட தேசிய ரீதியான இந்த சாதனையினை நிகழ்த்தியிருக்கிறார்.

Amidst intense competition, Mr. Thangavel Chandrasekaram displayed remarkable skill and determination in the 70+ men’s category. Representing Batticaloa District, he emerged as the National Champion, securing the gold medal and earning a well-deserved place in the spotlight.

Beyond his achievements in sports, Mr. Chandrasekaram is a distinguished English lecturer at Eastern University, a retired school principal, and currently serves as the Principal of Vivekananda College of Technology in Puthukudiyiruppu.
