இரவு நேரப் பயணத்தைத் தவிர்க்கவும்

நுவரெலியா –  ரம்பொட வழியாக கண்டி வீதியை இரவு வேளைகளில் பயன்படுத்துவது மிகவும் ஆபத்தானது என பொதுமக்களுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

நுவரெலியா மாவட்ட செயலாளர் துஷாரி தென்னகோன் நேற்று (11) இரவு விடுத்துள்ள விசேட அறிவிப்பில் இதனைத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

அவர் மேலும் தெரிவிக்கையில், தற்போது நுவரெலியா மாவட்டத்தில் நிலவி வரும் சீரற்ற வானிலையால் தொடர்ந்து மழை பெய்ந்து வருகிறது.

இதனால் பல இடங்களில் மண்மேடு, கற்பாறைகள் சரிந்து வீழ்வதற்கு அறிகுறியாக அபாயகரமான வெடிப்புகள் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளன.

இதனால் நுவரெலியா – கண்டி வீதியில் இரவில் பயணிக்கும் சாரதிகள் மிகவும் அவதானத்துடன் வாகனங்களை செலுத்துமாறு மாவட்ட செயலாளர் வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்துள்ளார்.

‘திட்வா’ புயலினால் நுவரெலியா மாவட்டத்தில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும் தேவையான உணவுப் பொருட்கள் உள்ளிட்ட வசதிகள் ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகத் தெரிவித்த அவர், அரசாங்கத்தை அசௌகரியத்திற்குள்ளாக்கும் நோக்கில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மற்றும் பாதிக்கப்படாத சில தரப்பினர் வெளியிடும் கருத்துக்களில் எவ்வித உண்மையும் இல்லை எனவும் இதன்போது சுட்டிக்காட்டினார்.

இதேவேளை, இலங்கையின் தென்கிழக்குப் பகுதியில் நிலவிய காற்றுச் சுழற்சி வலுவிழந்தது. ஆனால் இலங்கையின் தென்மேற்கு பகுதியைக் கொண்டு நிலவிய வளிமண்டல தளம்பல் நிலை தொடர்ந்தும் காணப்படுகின்றது என யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் புவியியல் துறையின் சிரேஷ்ட விரிவுரையாளர் நாகமுத்து பிரதீபராஜா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இதனால் எதிர்வரும் 13.12.2025 வரை கண்டி, நுவரெலியா, மாத்தளை, கேகாலை மற்றும் பதுளை மாவட்டங்களின் சில பகுதிகளுக்கு மண் சரிவு அனர்த்தம் நிகழ்வதற்கும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது என நாகமுத்து பிரதீபராஜா எதிர்வு கூறியுள்ளார்.

Avoid Night-Time Travel

The public has been warned that using the Nuwara Eliya–Ramboda–Kandy road during night hours is highly dangerous.

Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Dushari Tennakoon issued a special announcement last night (11), stating this concern.

She further noted that due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions in the Nuwara Eliya district, continuous rainfall is being experienced.
As a result, several locations are showing signs of danger, with mud layers and rock formations loosening and causing hazardous cracks, indicating the possibility of landslides.

Therefore, the District Secretary has strongly urged drivers traveling on the Nuwara Eliya–Kandy road at night to operate their vehicles with extreme caution.

Addressing the situation, she mentioned that all residents affected by Cyclone Ditva in the Nuwara Eliya district have been provided with necessary food items and other essential supplies.
She also emphasized that there is no truth in the statements being circulated by certain groups—who are not affected as claimed—intending to create inconvenience to the government.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure system that prevailed over the southeastern part of Sri Lanka has weakened.
However, the atmospheric disturbance over the southwestern region of the country continues, according to Senior Lecturer Naganmuthu Pradeeparajah from the Department of Geography, University of Jaffna.

Due to this situation, he forecast that there is a possibility of landslides occurring in some areas of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, and Badulla districts until 13.12.2025.
