அதிகரிக்கும் சிக்குன்குனியா: மக்களுக்கு கடும் எச்சரிக்கை

இந்தியப் பெருங்கடல் பகுதிகளில் உள்ள நாடுகளில் சிக்குன்குனியா நோய் பரவல் அபாயம் காணப்படுவதாக உலக சுகாதார அமைப்பு எச்சரித்துள்ளது.

குறித்த நோய்ப் பரவல் தற்போது ஐரோப்பா உட்பட பிற பகுதிகளிலும் பரவி வருவதாக அந்த அமைப்பு குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த வைரஸால் பாதிக்கப்படும் அபாயத்தில் 119 நாடுகள் உள்ளதுடன், சுமார் 5.6 பில்லியன் மக்கள் இருப்பதாக மதிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

முன்னதாக, கடந்த 2004-2005 ஆம் ஆண்டில் உலகம் முழுவதும் சிக்குன்குனியா ஒரு தொற்றுநோயாகப் பரவியது.

இதன்போது சுமார் 500,000 பேர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Chikungunya on the rise: Strong warning to the public

The World Health Organization has warned of a potential outbreak of chikungunya in countries in the Indian Ocean region.

The organization said the outbreak is now spreading to other regions, including Europe.

An estimated 5.6 billion people are at risk of contracting the virus, with 119 countries at risk.

Chikungunya was previously a global pandemic in 2004-2005.

About 500,000 people were infected during that time.
