வங்காள விரிகுடாவில் உருவான ‘மோந்தா’ புயல் cyclone-montha, நேற்று (28) நள்ளிரவு இந்தியாவின் ஆந்திர பிரதேச மாநிலத்தில் கரையை கடக்க ஆரம்பித்தது.
குறித்த மாநிலத்தின் காக்கிநாடாவின் தெற்கே மசூலிப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் கலிங்கப்பட்டினம் இடையே இந்த புயல் கரையை கடக்கத் தொடங்கியது.
புயல் கரையைக் கடக்கும்போது மணிக்கு 110 கி.மீ வேகத்தில் பலத்த காற்று வீசியதுடன், இடி, மின்னலுடன் கூடிய பலத்த மழையும் பல பகுதிகளில் பெய்துள்ளது.
இந்த தீவிர புயல் காரணமாக மசூலிப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் கிருஷ்ணா போன்ற கடலோரப் பகுதிகளில் மின்கம்பங்களும், பாரிய மரங்களும் வேரோடு சாய்ந்ததாக இந்திய ஊடகங்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
இதனால் பொதுமக்களின் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.
முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கையாக, காக்கிநாடா, கிருஷ்ணா, எலுரு உட்பட 7 கடலோர மாவட்டங்களில் வசித்த சுமார் 2 லட்சம் பேர் வெளியேற்றப்பட்டு, பாதுகாப்பான பகுதிகளில் தங்கவைக்கப்பட்டனர்.
மேலும், இந்த 7 மாவட்டங்களுக்கும் வாகனப் போக்குவரத்துத் தடை விதிக்கப்பட்டது.
புயல் காரணமாக ஆந்திராவில் மொத்தமாக 3,778 கிராமங்கள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாகவும், 1.76 லட்சம் ஹெக்டேயர் விவசாய நிலங்கள் அழிந்ததாகவும் ஆந்திர முதல்வர் சந்திரபாபு நாயுடு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
புயல் பாதிப்பால் ஆந்திரா மற்றும் சென்னைக்கான 9 விமான சேவைகளும், 75 தொடருந்து சேவைகளும் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன.
அதேநேரம் இந்த புயலின் தாக்கம் காரணமாக ஒடிசாவின் 8 மாவட்டங்களிலும் பலத்த மழை பெய்துள்ளதாக இந்திய ஊடகங்கள் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளன.
அத்துடன், தமிழகத்தின் சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம், மற்றும் ராணிப்பேட்டை ஆகிய 4 மாவட்டங்களுக்கு இன்று பலத்த மழைக்கான எச்சரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

cyclone-montha Crosses Coast at 110 km/h
The cyclone Montha, which formed over the Bay of Bengal, began making landfall along the coast of India’s Andhra Pradesh state late last night (October 28).
The storm started crossing the coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, south of Kakinada.
When the cyclone made landfall, winds reached speeds of up to 110 km per hour, accompanied by heavy rain, thunder, and lightning in several areas.
According to Indian media reports, due to the severe cyclone, power lines and large trees were uprooted in coastal regions such as Machilipatnam and Krishna districts, causing major disruption to daily life.
As a precautionary measure, around 200,000 residents from seven coastal districts—including Kakinada, Krishna, and Eluru—were evacuated and sheltered in safer locations.
Vehicular movement was also banned across all seven districts affected by the cyclone.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the cyclone had impacted a total of 3,778 villages and destroyed around 176,000 hectares of agricultural land in the state.
Due to the cyclone’s impact, nine flights bound for Andhra Pradesh and Chennai, as well as 75 train services, have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has been reported in eight districts of Odisha due to the cyclone’s influence.
Additionally, a heavy rainfall warning has been issued today for four districts in Tamil Nadu — Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Ranipet.
