பெல்லன்வில ரஜமஹா விகாரையைச் சேர்ந்த 76 வயதான பெண் யானை நேற்று திங்கட்கிழமை அதிகாலை விகாரை வளாகத்திலேயே உயிரிழந்ததாக விகாரை அதிகாரிகள் உறுதிப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

Death of “Menika,” the Elephant of the Rajamaha Vihara

A 76-year-old female elephant belonging to the Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihara passed away early yesterday (Monday) morning within the temple premises, according to temple authorities.

The elephant, fondly known among devotees as “Menika,” had been a significant part of the temple’s annual Perahera processions and other religious and cultural events for many years.
