இதன்படி, அனுராதபுரம் மாநகரசபைக்கு உட்பட்ட 30 முக்கிய இடங்களில் விசர்நாய் கடி ஒழிப்புத்திட்டம் ஆரம்பிப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதற்கமைய, கடந்த இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளில், மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள சுமார் 80 சதவீதமான நாய்களுக்குக் கருத்தடை செய்யப்பட்டு, தடுப்பூசிகள் செலுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.

First district to completely eliminate rabies…?

Anuradhapura is set to become the first district in Sri Lanka to completely eliminate rabies.

Speaking at an event held in Anuradhapura, Dr. Samith Nanayakkara, Executive Committee Member of the Animal Welfare Association, made this statement.

Accordingly, a rabies eradication program has been launched at 30 key locations under the Anuradhapura Municipal Council.

Over the past two years, around 80 percent of the dogs in the district have been sterilized and vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Samith Nanayakkara pointed out that although the project did not receive government funding, the Anuradhapura Municipal Council, non-governmental organizations, and the public’s cooperation made it possible to achieve this target.
