Heavy Rain in Several Districts Including Batticaloa
The Department of Meteorology has forecast that intermittent rain may occur in the Uva Province as well as in the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Polonnaruwa.
According to the weather forecast issued by the department, some areas in these regions may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
Several spells of rain may also occur in the Northern Province and in the districts of Kandy, Anuradhapura, and Trincomalee.
In the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the districts of Galle, Matara, and Kalutara, scattered showers or thundershowers may occur after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds with speeds of up to 40 km/h may occur at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North Central, and North Western Provinces, and in the districts of Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee.
Misty conditions may prevail during the early morning in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle and Matara.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautionary measures to minimize damage that may be caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
