இலங்கை தொலைத்தொடர்பு ஒழுங்குமுறை ஆணைக்குழு (TRCSL) அனைத்து மொபைல் சாதனங்களுக்கும் கட்டாய IMEI பதிவு முறையை கொண்டு வரப்போவதாக அறிவித்துள்ளது. இந்த நடவடிக்கை, தொலைத்தொடர்பு நெட்வொர்க் பாதுகாப்பை மேம்படுத்தவும், மொபைல் சாதனங்களின் மோசடிகளை தடுக்கும் நோக்கத்துடன் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது. TRCSL இத்திட்டத்தின் மூலம் அனைத்து பயனர்களும் தங்கள் மொபைல் சாதனங்கள் பதிவு செய்யப்பெட்டுள்ளதா என்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்துவதன் முக்கியத்துவத்தை வலியுறுத்துகிறது.

ஜனவரி 28, 2025 முதல், பதிவு செய்யப்படாத IMEI எண்களை கொண்ட மொபைல் சாதனங்கள் எந்த தொலைத்தொடர்பு நெட்வொர்க்கிலும் செயல்பட அனுமதிக்கப்படாது. இது பயனர்களின் தனிப்பட்ட தகவல்களை பாதுகாப்பாக வைத்திருப்பதற்கும், தொலைத்தொடர்பு தரத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கும் உதவுகிறது. மொபைல் சாதனங்களை புதுப்பிக்கவோ அல்லது வாங்கவோ முன்பு, அவற்றின் IMEI எண்கள் TRCSL தரவுத்தொகுப்பில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதா என்பதை சரிபார்ப்பது அவசியமாகிறது.

புதிய சாதனங்களைப் பெறும்போது, நுகர்வோர்கள் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட IMEI எண்களைக் கொண்ட மொபைல் சாதனங்களை மட்டுமே வாங்க TRCSL அறிவுறுத்துகிறது. நுகர்வோர் தங்கள் சாதனங்களின் பதிவு நிலையை சரிபார்க்க “IMEI <15-இலக்க IMEI எண்>” என்ற வடிவத்தில் 1909 என்ற எண்ணுக்கு SMS அனுப்பி, பதிவு விவரங்களை உறுதிப்படுத்தலாம்.

உங்கள் மொபைல் சாதனத்தின் IMEI எண்களை கண்டறிய, மொபைலில் “*#06#” என டயல் செய்யவும். IMEI எண் உங்கள் சாதனத்தின் திரையில் தோன்றும்.

Mandatory IMEI Registration for Mobile Devices in Sri Lanka: New Regulations Effective January 2025

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has announced the implementation of mandatory IMEI registration for all mobile devices. This initiative aims to enhance the security of telecommunication networks and prevent fraudulent activities involving mobile devices. TRCSL emphasizes the importance of ensuring that all users register their mobile devices with the TRCSL database.

From January 28, 2025, mobile devices with unregistered IMEI numbers will not be allowed to function on any telecommunication network. This measure is intended to safeguard user data and improve the quality of telecommunication services. Before purchasing or upgrading mobile devices, users must verify that the devices’ IMEI numbers are registered with the TRCSL database.

TRCSL advises consumers to purchase only mobile devices with registered IMEI numbers. Users can check the registration status of their devices by sending an SMS in the format “IMEI <15-digit IMEI number>” to 1909 to confirm their device’s registration.

Procedure to Identify IMEI Number:
To find the IMEI number of your mobile device, dial “*#06#” on your phone. The IMEI number will appear on the screen.

This initiative aims to encourage users to use secure and legally compliant devices. Avoid purchasing or using devices with unregistered IMEI numbers.

Additionally, TRCSL is working with all telecom and network service providers to create a centralized database to verify the performance of devices with registered IMEI numbers.
