அதற்கமைய, மேல் மற்றும் தென் மாகாணங்களில் உள்ள 1,266 பாடசாலைகளைச் சேர்ந்த 145,723 மாணவர்களுக்கு உள்ளூரில் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட பாதணிகளை பெற்றுக் கொடுக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ஒரு ஜோடி உள்ளூர் பாதணியை 2,100 ரூபாய் செலவில், ஒரு வருட உத்தரவாதத்துடன் வழங்க உள்ளூர் உற்பத்தியாளர்கள் இணக்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.
இதன் ஊடாக அரசாங்கத்திற்கு சுமார் 140 மில்லியன் ரூபாய் இலாபம் கிடைக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
இதனூடாக குறித்த இரண்டு மாகாணங்களிலுமுள்ள மேலும் 62,481 மாணவர்களுக்கு பாதணிகளை பெற்றுக் கொடுக்க முடியும் என அமைச்சு குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது.

Important Announcement on School Shoe Vouchers
A pilot project has been launched to provide locally manufactured, high-quality shoes instead of shoe vouchers currently given to schools with fewer than 250 students.
This decision was discussed under the leadership of Minister Sunil Handunnetti at the Ministry of Industries and Enterprise Development.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to distribute locally made shoes to 145,723 students from 1,266 schools in the Western and Southern Provinces.
Local manufacturers have agreed to supply a pair of shoes at a cost of Rs. 2,100, with a one-year warranty.
It is expected that the government will save approximately Rs. 140 million through this initiative.
The ministry further stated that, as a result of this saving, shoes can be provided to an additional 62,481 students in the two provinces.
