இலங்கையின் தென்கிழக்கே வங்காள விரிகுடாவில், மட்டக்களப்பிற்கு தென்கிழக்கே மையம் கொண்டுள்ள காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு மண்டலம் இன்று (09) மாலையில் மேலும் வலுவடைந்து பொத்துவில் மற்றும் திருகோணமலைக்கு இடையில் வடமேல் நோக்கி நகர வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக வளிமண்டலவியல் திணைக்களம் எச்சரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளது.

இதன் விளைவாக வடக்கு, வடமத்திய, கிழக்கு, ஊவா, மத்திய மற்றும் வடமேல் மாகாணங்களில் பலத்த மழை பெய்யக்கூடும்.

மாலை அல்லது இரவில் ஏனைய பகுதிகளில் மழை அல்லது இடியுடன் கூடிய மழை பெய்யக்கூடும் என்று வளிமண்டலவியல் திணைக்களம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

வடக்கு, வடமத்திய மாகாணங்களிலும் மாத்தளை, திருகோணமலை மற்றும் புத்தளம் மாவட்டங்களிலும் சில பகுதிகளில் 100 மில்லிமீற்றருக்கும் அதிகமான கனமழை பெய்யக்கூடும்.

மத்திய மலைநாட்டின் கிழக்கு சரிவுகளிலும், வடக்கு, வடமத்திய, வடமேல், மத்திய, ஊவா மற்றும் கிழக்கு மாகாணங்களிலும், கம்பஹா மற்றும் கொழும்பு மாவட்டங்களிலும் மணிக்கு 50-60 கிலோமீற்றர் வேகத்திலும், சில நேரங்களில் மணிக்கு 70 கிலோமீற்றர் வேகத்திலும் பலத்த காற்று வீசக்கூடும்.

நாட்டின் பெரும்பாலான பகுதிகளில் மேகமூட்டமான வானம் நிலவக்கூடும். இடியுடன் கூடிய மழை பெய்யும் நேரங்களில் ஏற்படக்கூடிய பாதிப்புக்களை குறைக்க போதுமான முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்குமாறு பொதுமக்கள் கேட்டுக் கொள்ளப்படுகிறார்கள்.

Low-Pressure System Centered Southeast of Batticaloa

The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning stating that the low-pressure system currently centered southeast of Batticaloa in the Bay of Bengal, southeast of Sri Lanka, is expected to intensify further this evening (09) and move northwestwards between Pottuvil and Trincomalee.

As a result, heavy rainfall may occur in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Uva, Central, and North Western Provinces.

Showers or thundershowers are also expected in other parts of the country during the evening or night, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Very heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters is likely in some areas of the Northern and North Central Provinces, as well as in the districts of Matale, Trincomalee, and Puttalam.

Strong winds with speeds of 50–60 kilometers per hour, and occasionally up to 70 kilometers per hour, may occur over the eastern slopes of the Central Highlands, and in the Northern, North Central, North Western, Central, Uva, and Eastern Provinces, as well as in the Gampaha and Colombo districts.

Cloudy skies are expected to prevail over most parts of the country. The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautionary measures to minimize possible damage during periods of thundershowers.
