சுழற்காற்று டிட்வா (Cyclone Ditwah) காரணமாக பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையை மீட்டெடுக்கவும், இந்த இயற்கை பேரழிவால் சீரழிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளை மறுசீரமைக்கவும் இலங்கை அரசு “இலங்கையை மீளமைக்கும் நிதி”யை நிறுவியது.
இந்த தேசிய முயற்சிக்கு ஆதரவாக, திரு. வேலுப்பிள்ளை சிவசுந்தரம் 10 மில்லியன் ரூபாய் என்ற பெருந்தொகையை நன்கொடையாக வழங்கியுள்ளார்.
இங்கிலாந்தில் செயல்படும் வெஸ்டர்ன் ஜூவல்லர்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தின் நிறுவனர் மற்றும் இலங்கை யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் உள்ள ஆவரங்கால் சிவசக்தி திருமண மண்டபத்தின் நிறுவனரான திரு. சிவசுந்தரம், தனது நன்கொடையை இன்று ஜனாதிபதியின் செயலாளர் கலாநிதி நந்திகா சனத் குமணாயக்க அவர்களிடம் கையளித்தார்.

London businessman donates Rs. 10 million to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund”
A London-based businessman has donated Rs. 10 million to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund.”
The Government of Sri Lanka established the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund” to restore the lives of people affected by Cyclone Ditwah and to rebuild the areas devastated by this natural disaster.
In support of this national initiative, Mr. Velupillai Sivasundaram has made a generous donation of Rs. 10 million.
Mr. Sivasundaram, the founder of Western Jewellers in the United Kingdom and the founder of the Avarangal Sivasakthi Wedding Hall in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, handed over his donation today to the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
