Opportunity to visit archaeological sites for free
The government has decided to provide free admission to projects owned by the Cultural Fund to children under the age of 18.
The Board of Governors of the Central Cultural Fund has reportedly approved the relevant proposal.
The primary objective of this is to instill an appreciation for cultural heritage among local children and to raise awareness about national heritage and places.
Accordingly, children will have the opportunity to visit 26 archaeological sites owned by the Central Cultural Fund, including Sigiriya, Yapahuwa, and Dambulla, without entry tickets.
In parallel, it has been decided to grant permits to foreign children to enter the relevant places under limited conditions, said Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake.
