Rain Expected in Batticaloa After 2 p.m.
The deep depression is centered about 300 km northeast of Kankesanthurai, near approximately 12.3°N latitude and 80.6°E longitude.
This information was revealed in a report issued by the Department of Meteorology.
It is expected to move further away from Sri Lanka, drifting northward and gradually weakening.
Accordingly, rain is likely in the Northern, Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern Provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (01).
In addition, some areas in the Uva Province and the Batticaloa and Ampara districts may experience rain or thundershowers after 2:00 p.m.
The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take adequate precautionary measures to minimize damages caused by strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
