இது நாளொன்றுக்கு சராசரியாக 250க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பாதிப்புகள் பதிவாகி வருவதைக் காட்டுகிறது.
2024 ஆம் ஆண்டின் ஜனவரி மாதம் முழுவதிலும் 4,931 நோயாளிகளே பதிவாகியிருந்த நிலையில், இந்த ஆண்டின் தொடக்கத்திலேயே பாதிப்பு எண்ணிக்கை பல மடங்கு அதிகரித்துள்ளதாக சுகாதாரத் தரவுகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
இது குறித்து கருத்து தெரிவித்துள்ள சமூகநல மருத்துவ நிபுணர் பிரஷிலா சமரவீர, சூறாவளியைத் தொடர்ந்து தற்காலிக முகாம்களில் புகை விசிறல் மற்றும் முறையான கழிவு மேலாண்மைப் பணிகளுக்கு முன்னுரிமை அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகத் தெரிவித்தார்.
மேலும், காய்ச்சல் அறிகுறிகள் தென்பட்டால் நோயாளிகள் தாமாகவே மருந்துகளை உட்கொள்வதைத் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும் என்றும், காய்ச்சல் இரண்டு நாட்களுக்கு மேல் நீடித்தால் உடனடியாகத் தகுதிவாய்ந்த மருத்துவரை அணுகி சிகிச்சை பெற வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் எச்சரித்துள்ளார்.
சிகிச்சையில் ஏற்படும் தாமதம் உயிருக்கு ஆபத்தாக முடியலாம் எனவும் அவர் சுட்டிக்காட்டினார்.
தேசிய டெங்கு கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரிவின் தகவல்படி, கொழும்பு, கம்பஹா மற்றும் களுத்துறை உள்ளிட்ட மேல் மாகாண மாவட்டங்களிலேயே அதிகப்படியான பாதிப்புகள் பதிவாகியுள்ளன.
அத்துடன் கண்டி, காலி, யாழ்ப்பாணம், மட்டக்களப்பு மற்றும் இரத்தினபுரி போன்ற மாவட்டங்களிலும் டெங்கு பரவல் தீவிரமடைந்துள்ளது.
குறிப்பாக பாடசாலைகள், அரச நிறுவனங்கள், வழிபாட்டுத் தலங்கள் மற்றும் கைவிடப்பட்ட கட்டிடங்கள் நுளம்பு பெருகும் பிரதான இடங்களாக அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளன.

Rapid Increase in Dengue Cases
Following the recent TDWA cyclone in Sri Lanka and the resulting floods, the spread of dengue fever across the country has reached a dangerous level.
In just the first six days of 2026, 1,598 dengue patients have been reported.
This indicates an average of over 250 cases per day. In comparison, only 4,931 patients were reported throughout the entire month of January 2024, showing that the number of cases at the start of this year has already increased several times, according to health data.
Speaking on this matter, social welfare medical expert Prashila Samarawira stated that, following the cyclone, priority has been given to smoke fumigation in temporary camps and proper waste management activities.
She also warned that if symptoms of fever appear, patients should avoid taking medications on their own, and if the fever persists for more than two days, they must immediately consult a qualified doctor for treatment. She emphasized that delays in treatment can be life-threatening.
According to the National Dengue Control Unit, the Western Province districts of Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara have recorded the highest number of cases.
Additionally, dengue has intensified in districts such as Kandy, Kalutara, Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Rathnapura.
Schools, government institutions, places of worship, and abandoned buildings have been identified as primary breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Health authorities have called for public cooperation in cleaning and maintaining these areas.
