இவ்வாரம் வரை டெங்கு தாக்கத்தினால் அதிகளவு மட்டக்களப்பு சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி பிரிவில் 04 பேர் பாதிப்புக்குள்ளானதுடன் செங்கலடி பிரதேசத்தில் 03 பேரும், கிரான் மற்றும் ஆரையம்பதி சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி பிரிவுகளில் 02 நபர்களும், வாகரை, வவுனதீவு சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி பிரிவுகளில் ஒருவருமாக மொத்தம் 13 பேர் டெங்கு நோயினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
மேலும் கடந்த சில வாரங்களில் மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்தில் டெங்கு நோயினால் எந்த ஒரு மரணங்களும் பதிவாகவில்லையென மட்டக்களப்பு பிராந்திய சுகாதார சேவைகள் பணிமனையின் டெங்கு கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரிவிற்கு பொறுப்பான வைத்திய அதிகாரி தவபாலசூப்பிரமணியம் சரவணன் மாவட்ட ஊடகப் பிரிவிற்கு தகவல் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இருப்பினும் கடந்த டிசம்பர் மாதம் 71 பேர் மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்தில் டெங்கு தொற்றுக்கு ஆளாகியுள்ளதுடன் நாட்டில் பொதுவாக டெங்கு நோய் பரவும் அபாயம் உள்ளதாக தகவல் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
மாவட்டத்தின் சகல சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி பிரிவுகளிலுமுள்ள மக்கள் மிகவும் விழிப்புடன் செயல்பட்டு வீடுகள் மற்றும் சுற்றுச் சூழலில் தேங்கியிருக்கும் குப்பைகள் நீர் தங்கியுள்ள இடங்கள் போன்றவற்றை அகற்றி டெங்கு நுளம்புகள் பரவுவதற்கு இடம் கொடுக்காத வகையில் சுத்தமாக வைத்துக் கொள்ளுமாறு மட்டக்களப்பு பிராந்திய சுகாதார சேவைகள் பணிமனையில் டெங்கு கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரிவிற்கு பொறுப்பான வைத்திய அதிகாரி சரவணன் வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்துள்ளார்.

Rising Dengue Cases in Batticaloa
Amid the ongoing inter-monsoon rains, 13 dengue patients have been identified in Batticaloa District during the first week of this year.
So far this week, the highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Batticaloa Medical Officer of Health (MOH) area, with four patients.
This is followed by three cases in the Chenkalady area, two cases each in the Kiran and Araiyampathy MOH divisions, and one case each in the Vakarai and Vavunatheevu MOH divisions, bringing the total to 13 patients.
Meanwhile, no dengue-related deaths have been recorded in the Batticaloa District during the past few weeks, according to Dr. Thavapalasupramanium Saravanan, the Medical Officer in charge of the Dengue Control Unit of the Regional Director of Health Services, Batticaloa, who informed the District Media Unit.
However, 71 dengue cases were reported in Batticaloa District in December, and health authorities warn that there is a general risk of dengue spreading across the country.
Dr. Saravanan has urged residents in all MOH divisions of the district to remain highly vigilant by removing garbage, stagnant water, and other mosquito-breeding sites in and around their homes, so as to prevent the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
