Weather Changes Expected in the Northern and Eastern Regions

The Department of Meteorology has forecast that the current rainy conditions prevailing in the Northern and Eastern Provinces are likely to further intensify.

Intermittent showers can be expected in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District.

After 1.00 p.m. today (14), showers or thundershowers may occur in several other parts of the country.

Fairly heavy showers exceeding 75 mm may occur in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa Districts.

The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
