பேராதனைப் பல்கலைக்கழக மாணவர்கள் கவனத்திற்கு

Attention to Students of the University of Peradeniya பேராதனைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் ஆறு பீடங்களின் கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகளை டிசம்பர் 29 ஆம் திகதிக்குள் முழுமையாக ஆரம்பிக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் உபவேந்தர் பேராசிரியர் டபிள்யூ.எம்.டி.மதுஜித் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

டிட்வா சூறாவளி காரணமாக ஏற்பட்ட பாதிப்புகளினால் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகள் தற்காலிகமாக நிறுத்தப்பட்டிருந்த நிலையில், தற்போது அவை மீள ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

பரீட்சை நடவடிக்கைகளைக் கருத்திற்கொண்டு, மருத்துவ பீடம், இணைந்த சுகாதார அறிவியல் பீடம் மற்றும் பொறியியல் பீடம் ஆகியவற்றின் கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகள் கடந்த டிசம்பர் 16 ஆம் திகதி முதல் ஏற்கனவே ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, வரும் டிசம்பர் 29 ஆம் திகதி முதல் விவசாய பீடம், கால்நடை மருத்துவ பீடம் மற்றும் பல் மருத்துவ பீடம் ஆகியவற்றின் நடவடிக்கைகள் ஆரம்பிக்கப்படவுள்ளன.

மேலும், கலைப் பீடம் மற்றும் அறிவியல் பீடம் ஆகியவற்றின் கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகள் எதிர்வரும் ஜனவரி மாதம் 5ஆம் திகதி முதல் ஆரம்பிக்கப்படவுள்ளதாக உபவேந்தர் மேலும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

இந்த அனர்த்தத்தினால் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் முகாமைத்துவ பீடமே அதிகளவில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அதன் ஒரு கட்டடம் மாணவர்களின் பயன்பாட்டிற்கு அபாயகரமான நிலையில் காணப்படுவதால், அது குறித்த ஆய்வுகள் தற்போது முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

எவ்வாறாயினும், 2024 உயர்தரப் பரீட்சை பெறுபேறுகளின் அடிப்படையில் முகாமைத்துவ பீடத்திற்குத் தெரிவான புதிய மாணவர்களுக்கான கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகள், திட்டமிட்டபடி எதிர்வரும் பெப்ரவரி மாதம் 10ஆம் திகதி ஆரம்பிக்கப்படும்.

அதேவேளை, அந்த பீடத்தின் ஏனைய மாணவர்களுக்கான கல்விச் செயற்பாடுகளையும் முறைப்படி ஆரம்பிக்கத் திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

சூறாவளி மற்றும் வெள்ளப் பெருக்கு காரணமாக பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்கு ஏற்பட்டுள்ள நேரடிச் சேதங்களின் பெறுமதி சுமார் 4 பில்லியன் ரூபா என மதிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இது தொடர்பான மதிப்பீட்டு அறிக்கை உயர்கல்வி அமைச்சிடம் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Attention to Students of the University of Peradeniya

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Professor W.M.D. Madujith, has stated that arrangements have been made to fully recommence academic activities of six faculties of the university by December 29.

Academic activities at the university were temporarily suspended due to the impact of Cyclone Dithva. However, these activities are now being gradually resumed.

Taking examination schedules into account, academic activities of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering have already recommenced from December 16.

Thereafter, academic activities of the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Faculty of Dental Sciences are scheduled to begin from December 29.

Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor noted that academic activities of the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science will commence from January 5.

As a result of the disaster, the Faculty of Management has been the most severely affected.

One of its buildings has been identified as unsafe for student use, and assessments in this regard are currently being carried out.

Nevertheless, academic activities for new students selected to the Faculty of Management based on the 2024 Advanced Level examination results will commence as scheduled on February 10.

At the same time, it is planned to resume academic activities for the other students of that faculty in a proper and phased manner.

The estimated value of the direct damages caused to the university due to the cyclone and flooding is approximately Rs. 4 billion.

A damage assessment report related to this has been submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education.
