Inspection of Water Channels of 266 Tanks to Begin
Following damage caused by recent floods due to heavy rainfall, the Irrigation Department has begun making arrangements to carry out assessment inspections of the water channels of 266 tanks.
Speaking on the matter, Director of Water Management at the Irrigation Department, H.M.P.S.D. Herath, stated that the inspection programme is planned to commence next month. The assessments will focus on damages to major river basins, medium-scale rivers, and reservoirs that come under the purview of the department.
He further noted that, if required, assistance from the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) and the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau would be sought to conduct comprehensive studies.
