தற்போதைய அரச நாட்காட்டியில் மே முதலாம் திகதி வெசாக் தினமாகக் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருந்தாலும், அன்றைய தினம் அதற்குரிய நட்சத்திர பொருத்தமில்லை. சாஸ்திர ரீதியான ஆலோசனைகளின்படி, சரியான நட்சத்திரம் கூடிவரும் மே 30ஆம் திகதியை உத்தியோகபூர்வ வெசாக் தினமாக மாற்றியமைக்குமாறு மதகுருமார்கள் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

Information Regarding Vesak Day

As there will be two Poya days in May 2026, Buddhist religious leaders have made a request to the President regarding which of these days should be officially declared as Vesak Day.

Although the current government calendar lists May 1 as Vesak Day, it is stated that the relevant astrological alignment does not fall on that date. According to traditional and astrological consultations, religious leaders have emphasized that May 30, which has the correct astrological alignment, should be designated as the official Vesak Day.

They have further stated that this adjustment is necessary to preserve ancient traditions and to avoid confusion. Accordingly, they have requested that appropriate instructions be issued to hold all state ceremonies and religious observances on the revised date.
