Thunderstorms with Heavy Rain

The Department of Meteorology has forecast that intermittent rain may occur today (31) in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, and Central Provinces.

Fairly heavy rain exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in the Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, and Matale districts.

Several spells of rain are also expected in the Uva and North Western Provinces.

Similarly, rain or thundershowers may occur in other parts of the country after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rain exceeding 50 mm at some locations.

Misty conditions are likely during the early morning hours in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Department of Meteorology has requested the general public to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damages caused by thunderstorms.
