Restrictions Imposed on Urea Distribution

Due to the ongoing crisis situation in the Middle East region, the Department of Agrarian Development has stated that the stock of urea fertilizer in the country has become limited. As a result, it has been decided to supply urea fertilizer only for the current Yala (minor season) paddy cultivation.

Considering the current situation, a decision has been made to distribute only unblended urea fertilizer through Agrarian Service Centers specifically for the 2026 Yala paddy cultivation activities.

The Department of Agrarian Development has taken steps to inform all Agrarian Development Officers across the country regarding this matter.

Officials have been instructed to provide only the required amount of fertilizer based on the extent of land cultivated by each farmer when distributing fertilizers.

The department has also directed all Agrarian Development Officers to properly manage the existing fertilizer stocks and ensure that the 2026 Yala paddy cultivation proceeds without any disruption.
